Deacons
The Deacons board are another permanent body within the church. Deacons are elected in a similar manner as Elders by the congregation. Both Elders and Deacons are ordained to office and their ordination is for life.
Each Deacon is expected to become and continue to be a tither, attend Life-Sharing bible study, and be faithful in regular church attendance and session meetings. Each Deacon is expected to attend all Deacon meetings. If a person is unable to attend, he/she should contact the secretary or moderator of the Deacons and asked to be excused. If a person misses 3 meetings in a row without asking to be excused, that person will be considered to have resigned from Deacons board.
During the Deacons meetings, each Deacon is free to add to the docket at the beginning of the meeting. Once an item is introduced and put forward in a motion it will be discussed and voted upon. All reports and recommendations brought back to the Deacons are still subject to the will of the majority of those on the Deacon Board. All decisions by the Deacons remain subject to the will of the Steering Committee. The Deacons are not a fund raising body. When additional funds are needed for their ministry, a request should be made to the Steering Committee for additional funding.
The Deacons are not a governing body. Their job is to help those who are hurting and in need. They will seek to provide assistance to those who have physical, financial, and emotional needs. There are 3 funds to help people.
1) The Deacons Fund.
2) The Prescription Fund and
3) The Single Parent Fund.
The Prescription Fund and The Single Parent Fund is limited to those who are members of the church. The Deacons will strive to provide emergency food, clothing, shelter, and gifts when they are needed. Deacons are responsible for serving families meal during the loss of loved ones. The Deacons organize one events for fellowship each year. The Annual Church Picnic.
